Inspired by retro shirts from the golden age of Alohawear, the Reyn Spooner artists created On Hawaiian Time to capture the vintage feel of designs from the 1940s. The artwork features iconic Hawaiian motifs such as hula dancers, water sports, lei, and King Kamehameha I's statue with some of our favorite Pidgin phrases.
Hawaiian Pidgin originated as a makeshift way for native Hawaiians and immigrants from all over the world to communicate with one another. The diverse group of languages blended with the Hawaiian language to create Hawaiian Pidgin, a unique second language spoken by locals to this day.
