During military service in East Asia, soldiers often purchased sukajans, or souvenir jackets. The silk jackets were made by the Japanese for American soldiers. They quickly took on new meaning once they returned home. People wore the jackets as acts subversively, both in American and in Japan. But while the souvenir jacket's history is interesting and important, it is still a great looking article of clothing.
